Other Services

The Directors of Metroplan have also offered their services to the following initiatives:

  1. Lectured in the Bachelor of Technology and Engineering at the Port Elizabeth Technikon.
  2. Participated in a panel of adjudicators of projects for Final Year Architectural Students at the Nelson Mandela Metroplan University NMMU(Former University of Port Elizabeth UPE).
  3. Attended Careers Guidance Sessions aimed for Students from the disadvantaged areas held at Nelson Mandela University Missionvale Campus(former Vista University )from 1996 to 1998, and at Ethembeni Centre (1995).
  4. Assisted emerging builders with technical, administrative and operational back up to access housing subsidies on an ongoing basis. Such assistance includes completing applications, preparing building plans, compiling VAT returns, registration queries with NHBRC, etc. for Sakhel’ Abantu Construction and Elcome Builders (all based in Walmer Township).
  5. Lectured to Valuable Students involved in Community Development with the Technikon SA.
  6. Trained and utilised community members to complete over 4900 subsidy forms as part of the Rapid Land Release Programme in Uitenhage. Community members also taught how to read a plan, to locate survey pegs, to facilitate relocation of streets, etc.

Service on the Professional Institutes and Boards related Town Planning include:

  1. SAPI Council – Mr Ndaba Ndzombane has served as a member of the SAPI National Board and is currently the Chairperson of the Eastern Cape Region of SAPI.
  2. Planning Advisory Board – Mrs Armanda Rousseau has been a member of the Planning Advisory Board and is appointed as Chairperson since March 2004.
  3. Imizi Housing Association - Mr Lance Del Monte has served as a board member since 2003.
